Music Lessons.........My Ideaology !

My Staff and I are trained professionals graduated in music and early years music education.

Our Early Years Musik program offers a comprehensive, sequential plan for the musical development of your child from birth to seven (7) years of age.  Our classes are educational, fun and purposeful; free from performance expectations and structured outcomes.

The program levels, from group instrument play (age 6 - 8), to semi-private or private, stand on their own merit and fit into the developmental needs of each student.

Students will bond with their instrument and develop a desire to play.  Home practise is taught to be comfortable, enjoyable and non-evasive.

To the parents, we suggest enhancing their child’s home music environment so practise, performance and exams are just another part of the success story rather than another "academic stressor".  The instrument should be played in a quiet place in the home,

NOT in the child's bedroom. Home playing (practise) should be done regularly on a timed schedule.

Parental involvement is very important, especially for the beginning student, to assist with reading instructions and writing. Teachers give simple lesson plans to follow and the parent can assume the role of “listener" while the child is playing. Always ready to give positive input and praise.

Students who are entering competition or preparing for exam need parental guidance to keep up their self esteem. This can be done through understanding the teacher’s instructions and the time managing factor of practice and patience. Time management is a crucial factor for teenagers who underestimate of how much time is actually needed for anything.

I believe in the importance of what is being practised versus how long one practises. For example, a student says they played for 35 minutes, the parents may believe this is good. The student may have only played pieces they know well or practised scales without advancing their musical talent. My teachers and I prepare a study planner for all our students.  It helps students see just how little “real time" is actually needed to practice properly.

Zero tolerance or negative consequences only bring about more parent-student frustration.  Students usually tend to stop listening and become unproductive.

I invite all of my students and their parents to speak to me at any time to set up a productive and positive environment for home playing.

Everyone should enjoy the music student at home.

Music is the gift of life.         Sincerely, Margrit
